| Review The Adobe Photoshop Elements Crafts Book Elizabeth Bulger Peachpit Press ISBN 0-321-36896-7 Scott Kelby comment on this book is as follows: “Elizabeth Bulger has taken Photoshop Elements to a whole new level with this unique book of projects. She shows you how to use Photoshop Elements to create all sorts of cool things, holiday gifts, book covers, coasters, postcards, and a zillion other nifty ‘ I didn’t know you could do that ‘ crafts” That statement captures the feel of the book. This is not a book on how to understand Elements. True the first three chapters provide the reader with a brief review of Elements Basic, working with layers and working with selections. The chapter on layers is really easy to understand. The next fifteen chapters are filled with craft projects that uses the computer and Elements as tool. They are tools to use. The author provides clear instructions in understandable English, not computer talk. I did try some of the projects and as able to follow her directions. In a few cases I found it easier to do the project in a slightly way, and it worked. There are several possible reasons for that, i have used Elements 3 for some time, the book uses Element 4 , she used a Windows machine and I have a Mac. My point is it doesn’t matter how you achieve your goal. The computer is just a tool. Don’t be limited to the projects she outlined, use the book as a spring board to create your own neat projects. If you are interested in crafts this is a book you should consider purchasing. It has a lot to offer. The book is available for you to examine in our library. review by Don Rawlings |
